Job Description

Touton SA is seeking a highly motivated Cocoa Sustainability Manager to support and drive the development of the Group’s sustainability agenda for cocoa.

The successful candidate will work under the supervision of the Cocoa sustainability director and in close collaboration with the sustainability teams at origin. He/She will be in charge of a specific portfolio of clients and programs from contracting to ensuring that the terms of references are respected and implemented.

The position requires frequent travel to origins.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Program implementation.
  • Drive the adoption of sustainable traceable cocoa in line with internal targets and a specific portfolio of client requirements.

  • Integrate environmentally friendly, socially responsible, and economically viable practices into cocoa supply chain operations.

  1. Stakeholder engagement
  • Build and maintain relationships with external implementing partners linked to the programs you are in charge of.

  • Represent the organization in industry working groups and conferences related to cocoa.

  1. Monitoring and evaluation
  • Help establish key performance indicators for sustainability programs and monitor progress against these benchmarks.

  • Conduct regular assessments and audits of cocoa supply chain partners as well as internal operational gap analysis to ensure compliance with sustainability standards.

  1. Capacity building
  • Work closely with internal teams to ensure awareness and understanding of internal and client sustainability goals throughout the organization.
  1. Reporting and communication
  • Prepare and present regular reports on sustainability performance for specific cocoa programs.

  • Support process of internal reporting

Preferred Experience

Master’s degree in sustainability, environmental science, agriculture or a related field.  

Strong understanding of environmental, social and economic issues related to cocoa production.

Knowledge of relevant sustainability standards and certifications.

Good numeracy, analytical and research skills, demonstrable understanding of data collection and traceability

Strong inter-personal, written, and verbal communication skills; experience liaising with various internal and external stakeholders across multiple origins.

Experience in creating, managing, and implementing project budgets and workplans, as well as reporting to various stakeholders.

Knowledge of data management processes, tools and software

Ability to prioritize own workload and take a logical and measured approach to problem solving and addressing complex issues.

English and French language skills required.
